Never seen in a church before… the National Christian Center in Abuja, Nigeria has a ROTATING altar?! ⛪️🇳🇬 The National Christian Centre in Abuja is one of the most important Christian landmarks in Nigeria’s capital. What makes this church interesting is that it isn’t dedicated to just one Christian denomination. It was designed as an interdenominational worship centre, bringing together Christians from different traditions for major national services and celebrations. How beautiful is that? 🫶🏼✝️☦️ That also explains the unusual architecture. Instead of the traditional cross-shaped layout you often see in Catholic churches, the congregation surrounds a central altar. And the coolest detail: the altar can actually ROTATE, allowing whoever is leading the service to face different sections of the church. Add the huge stained-glass windows, massive pipe organ, drums and space for thousands of worshippers and it’s a seriously impressive interior. After a slightly complicated start trying to enter this church earlier, I eventually met some incredibly welcoming people who took the time to show me around and explain everything.
