What's one thing you wish you knew in your 20s? I wish I could go back and tell myself, "You're not behind. You're just figuring it out, and still growing, and it's never too late to learn this stuff." Here are 3 more things I wish I knew in my 20s: 1) I used to think being a good parent and being a good leader were completely separate skill sets. Like I'd clock out of one identity and clock into the other. Turns out none of that's true, and honestly, the two have taught me the same lessons over and over again. 2) You don't have to earn rest. I spent so many years believing rest was something you got to have after you'd proven you deserved it, after the to do list was done, after you'd shown up enough. Rest isn't a reward. It's part of how you keep showing up at all. 3) And self regulation, not perfection, is the ultimate leadership skill. Whether it's staying steady when things get turbulent, or just being honest and saying "I'm not okay right now," that's what people actually need from you. Not a leader or a parent who never wobbles. One who can be honest about the wobble and still show up.
