The Greektown Detroit Streetscape project is close to completion 📣 It’s an exciting time in Greektown right now as major sections of a $20 million redevelopment to make the area more walkable and pedestrian-friendly are opening after more than a year of construction. The new Gratiot-Randolph Plaza that opened last weekcreates a pedestrian gateway between downtown Detroit and Greektown at Randolph Street, between Monroe Street and Gratiot Avenue. 📍 And just steps away, another major piece of the project is officially complete. The new stretch of Monroe Street between Beaubien and St. Antoine is open and marks the first finished section of the streetscape project. The larger Monroe Street project stretches from Randolph to St. Antoine and is reshaping Greektown around walkability, outdoor dining, public gathering space and stronger connections between the district and the heart of downtown. The project also includes new trees, improved lighting, public art, flexible event space, public Wi-Fi, and expanded patios. 🌳 Construction began in March 2025 and the vision is nearing the finish line. Additional sections between Randolph, Brush and Beaubien are expected to open later this year. Greektown has been an iconic Detroit neighborhood and landmark for over a century.
