🍞 Sourdough Milk Bread You might be wondering, what’s the point of making milk bread with a sourdough starter if it’s not supposed to be sour? Well, that was exactly part of the challenge I set for myself with this recipe. I don’t usually have yeast in my pantry but I’ve maintained my sourdough starter with daily feeds for a few years now. It’s just the way I prefer to bake bread, since I’ve invested so much time into learning it. It’s fun and rewarding, so why not? I tried making milk bread with my regular sourdough starter and no matter what I did, I could still taste a hint of tang. I don’t want that in my milk bread. I saw @The Early Rise- Laila talk about using a sweet stiff starter to curb that sour flavor for her sourdough cinnamon rolls, and applied that technique here. Problem solved, thanks Laila! Milk bread is my favorite kind of bread, and this recipe is as close as I could get it to the Asian bakeries. It’s so soft & pillowy, with a slightly chewy texture in the best way. You can find the full recipe with step-by-step instructions and photos on my blog! #sourdough #shokupan #milkbread
