Archaeologists in Amastris, Türkiye, unearthed a 1,800 year old marble statue of Aphrodite during excavations at a Roman gymnasium site. Found nearly four meters underground, the sculpture has a distinctive Herakles knot hairstyle and is missing only its right hand and part of its nose. While initial field reports identified the figure as a water nymph due to overlapping Roman artistic styles, an expert analysis confirmed it represents the goddess of love and beauty. The statue was placed on public display at the Amasra Museum
