After nearly 50 years of memories at this property — first as the longtime home of JD’s Restaurant & Lounge and now Monstah Lobstah IRB — the building is coming down. Following significant damage from the 2024 hurricanes and continued concerns about flooding, storms and an aging coastal structure, the owners have decided to truly re-invest in the future, and rebuild from the ground up. Monstah Lobstah IRB will close Monday, September 7th. But here's the cool part... 🦞 A brand-new, multi-level Monstah Lobstah IRB is planned. 🎹 And upstairs? JD’S ROOFTOP BAR IS COMING BACK. Live music. Dancing. Piano nights. Historic JD’s memorabilia. And 360-degree views of the beach and Intracoastal. Before the old building goes away, they're throwing a 4-DAY SEND-OFF PARTY — Sept. 3–6. Guests can even write memories and messages on a restaurant wall that will be preserved and incorporated into the new building. There’s no reopening date yet — permits and approvals still have to happen — but the owners say the goal is pretty simple: Don't erase the history. Build something strong enough to keep it going.
