If someone really wants to read from the King James Version (KJV) for nostalgia, they certainly can. I just think it’s important that we all know that it’s a bad translation IF the goal is for the reader to better understand the bible, and in my opinion unnecessarily distances us from God. The New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition (NRSVue) certainly has a clunkier name, but it also has much more basis in fact and academic understanding of the bible. You would never want your surgeon using techniques from the 1600s, why would you want your bible translation using the same?
