There are multiple reasons why it’s critically important to understand how to meet a dog the dog psychology way. 1. Many incidents of dog bites, lunges, people being knocked over, etc. could have been avoided if the person stayed quiet and calm when meeting a dog. 2. By NOT understanding how to meet a dog the dog psychology way, it can cause a dog to associate you with fear, anxiety, someone unsafe. 3. A dog is nose first. They see the world through their sense of smell. Why would we trigger eyes and ears to meet a dog when the way they meet is through the nose. 4. By staying calm and silent, it’s not about ignoring the dog. It’s about allowing the dog meet you in the way they instinctually understand how to meet. We are connecting to the dog through calmness and respect instead of excitement and disrespect. If my 2-year of son understands this and literally meets new dogs by staying silent, calm and letting a dog come to him, it should be easy for an adult. The biggest thing I’m trying to get people to see that if we want to meet a dog in a healthy way, we have to learn how they do it and mimic that. Dogs can’t go to school to earn that humans are more eyes and ears oriented but we can educate ourselves on how dogs do it. Being that we are the ones who brought the dogs into our human world, it's our responsibility to understand their instinct psychology and how they see the world. Next dog you meet, stay silent, stay calm and let the dog come to you and use their nose, just to see the difference! Love you❤️❤️
