A new study of former NFL players finds that at least a quarter of the athletes who died between 2016 and 2021 had the neurodegenerative condition known as CTE.The research, from Mass General Brigham, is the newest and most comprehensive attempt to better determine CTE’s prevalence in the sport. In a statement, the NFL told NPR the league "continuously strives to make the game of football safer, including by implementing strategies to reduce concussions and head impacts."
