I know what it’s like to survive a mother who tried to take your life. That’s why the Lindsay Clancy case hits differently for me. I am not a lawyer or mental health expert, but as someone who has lived through attempted murder by a parent I feel so many things about this case. I talk about accountability, justice, and why I believe mental illness can help explain someone’s actions without necessarily removing responsibility for them.
