Coming together and practicing conflict resolution and repair is uncomfortable in the beginning, especially if you’ve spent years weaponising each other’s vulnerabilities or never really moved past simply wanting to be heard. However, the moment you realise you’re actually on the same side, everything changes. Ears begin to listen with empathy. Maturity enters the room. Ego has to bounce, and you realise that “winning” was never about defeating each but about finding your way back to each other. Not only does it become easier to come together and practice the work of repair, but your children also learn one of the most important relationship skills there is and that's how to repair, reconnect, and resolve conflict with respect. Your real-life example becomes the skill set they adopt. When it comes to yourselves as adults, hold those conversations respectfully and privately. Your relationship should never become a burden your children are made to carry. How do you rate yourself at repair, Has it got easier, or is it still challenging? Jo x
