This was not a post I wanted to make today, or ever. Saturday, June 6th, 2026 around 6pm, we lost our beautiful, amazing, happy snuggle bug Memphis. She was surrounded by people who she knew and loved, and of course everyone at the vet knew her well as well. I dont' think there was a dry eye in the office. I am sure you are shocked, and trust me, so are we. We just found out less then 1 week ago that she had Liver Cancer. Literally 1 week ago we got that diagnosis. She was scheduled for surgery on July 1st at the Animal Surgical Center. Only 1 month away, which really wasn't that far. We took her camping last week, and then yesterday I took her to the Flower Festival in Downtown Alpena. This photo, is the last photo I ever took of her. We got back from Flower fest, had a wonderful day. She was prancy and happy outside, ate her lunch like the champion she was. Yesterday was my parent's 51st wedding anniversary, so we planned to go to dinner around 5. Jamie laid down for a quick nap, and I hung out in the living room with Memphis, posting a few stories of our day. She was perfectly fine, and happy. Not stressed, nothing. Napping, even dreaming! Then she got up, and needed out. I let her out, and she kind of looked like she had an upset tummy, so I figured she might puke. She did not. I let her back in, and she tried to sit down, and couldn't and then wanted back out. So out we went. . . It was then I noticed how hard she was really panting. I reached for her and felt her abdomen, and it was hard as a rock. I instantly knew this was bad. I called Thunder Bay Urgent Care, and rushed her in. They couldn't hear her heart on her one side, or feel a pulse on the one side, which is a clear sign of fluid building up. We discussed rushing her to MSU, which I was so ready to do, but after and ultrasound, the reality set in. I couldn't save her. No matter what I did, I couldn't save her. She wouldn't survive the 4 hour drive to MSU. I couldn't bear the thought of losing her on the ride. So after the discussion, we had to let her go. We had such high hopes, that she was gonna get this surgery, and they were gonna get rid of this cancer, and she was gonna live a longer amazing life. . . but life doesn't ever work out like we think it will. I am sorry everyone. We did everything we could and I couldn't save her. Memphis passed around 6pm on June 6, 2026. And no we are not okay at all. . we are shocked, and crushed and just destroyed. We love you Memphis Belle! We will miss you more then you will ever know!
