Our Dog, Memphis Belle, has Liver Cancer, but all hope is not lost. Let me explain. As most of you know she went in Wednesday for an ultrasound and some x-rays. What I haven't shared yet, was that they found a large tumor on her liver. Dr. Ryan was able do to a biopsy of that and sent it out, and we were told 5- 7 days to get it back. I didn't want to update you all with just "Memphis has a tumor on her liver and we don't know anything else" Well we got lucky, and it came back today. I got the call from Dr. Ryan this evening, with the Bad news, but also, good news. What he said was " The growth is likely a hepatocellular carcinoma which is a type of liver cancer. The good news about this one is that it is amenable to surgical excision." Which means, yes Memphis has liver cancer, but also we have options! Monday morning I will be making the call the the Surgical Center in Flint Michigan. We will start the process of getting scans and getting surgery scheduled if all goes well. It's a lot, like a lot a lot, but we have hope, and Memphis is fairly healthy other then this stupid tumor (Fluff Cancer!) That's the update. We are scared, sad, happy, all the things all at once, and it's a lot to process. BUT we have hope. If they do the surgery, and remove this, she could live many more years!
