
Pensar mucho en algo no necesariamente significa entenderlo mejor. Hay momentos en los que mirar hacia adentro te da información útil, pero también existe un punto en el que pensar deja de ser análisis y se convierte en rumia: las mismas preguntas, los mismos escenarios y cero información nueva. Tal vez una buena regla sea preguntarte: ¿esto que estoy pensando me está ayudando a hacer algo distinto o solamente estoy dando otra vuelta sobre lo mismo? Si es lo segundo, quizá no necesitas resolverlo en ese momento. Necesitas cambiar el foco. La atención también es flexible. Podemos aprender a dirigirla, ampliarla y regresar a lo importante según lo que la situación necesita; de hecho, en el deporte cambiar estratégicamente el foco atencional puede modificar el esfuerzo y el rendimiento.
