Charcoal Char Kway Teow. From the streets of Malaysia not Indonesia, not Thailand and definitely not Singapore, with Penang probably being the place most famous for it. Back in the day it was cheap, fast food for workers. Thick rice noodles thrown into a ripping hot wok with soy, egg, bean sprouts, chilli and seafood. Traditionally a lot of it was cooked over charcoal, which gives you that extra smoky flavour and proper wok hei. #CharKwayTeow #PenangFood #MalaysianFood #WokHei #StreetFood
