Isometric Kneehab - age 57, August 16, 2026, August 16, 2026, 2:19 PM Leslie and I were up at 3 am to secure items in our yard that were getting blown around by Hurricane LaLa. This afternoon things settled to a warm, constant rain, which is perfect for doing certain exercises like isometric holds. My knees have been overused and injured many times over the years, so for now I’m replacing heavy Squats and Deadlifts with body weight split squats, pogo hops, and isometrics. Today my goal was to hold the toe squat position for 3 minutes, so I set up my camera so I wouldn’t quit early. It’s weird, but I have found that filming myself doing something I don’t want to or am not sure I can do has a powerful motivating effect on me. It has the same effect of having an audience, but without the pressure, and if I succeed it’s saved on video, even if no one Leslie ever sees it. The second video was taken by Leslie when she let the dogs out to pee. I didn’t know they were there until Cheedee came running out, felt the rain, and turned right back around. The laugh broke the monotony and really helped my situation, but it was even more amusing from Leslie’s perspective. As I write this, it seems like LaLa is moving away from us, but my prayers go out to any of you affected in a bad way. Love and aloha🌴
