Most people think bananas go bad faster in the fridge because the peel turns black pretty quickly. But that’s actually not what’s happening. The cold just messes with the skin, so it changes color and looks worse than it really is. Inside, the banana is still good and actually lasts longer than if you left it out on the counter. If you keep bananas at room temperature, they stay yellow longer but they keep ripening fast and get mushy way sooner. The fridge slows that whole process down. So the best move is to let them ripen how you like first, then throw them in the fridge to make them last. It might look wrong, but it works.
