Basically everything I want in a cozy fall baking recipe. Ingredients Apple Chai Scones β’ 12 Tbsp (170 g) cold unsalted butter, cubed β’ Β½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream β’ 2 large eggs (1 whole + 1 yolk for dough, 1 white for brushing) β’ 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour β’ ΒΌ cup (50 g) sugar β’ 1 Tbsp baking powder β’ 1 Tbsp chai spice blend β’ Β½ tsp kosher salt β’ ΒΎ cup (78 g) diced apple β’ ΒΎ cup (113 g) cinnamon chips Maple Chai Glaze β’ 1 heaping cup (125 g) powdered sugar β’ 2 tsp chai spice β’ 1 tsp vanilla β’ 3 Tbsp (45 ml) heavy cream β’ 1 Tbsp (15 ml) maple syrup β’ Pinch of salt Directions Keep the butter cold. Whisk heavy cream with 1 whole egg + 1 yolk and chill. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, chai spice and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly with pea-sized pieces remaining. Add the cream mixture just until a dough forms, then fold in apples and cinnamon chips. Shape into a disc and chill for 30 minutes. Cut into 8 wedges or make mini scones. Brush with reserved egg white and bake at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 20β22 minutes. Mix glaze ingredients until smooth.
