Christianity is not a buffet where you take the parts that are convenient and discard the truths that make you uncomfortable. It's binary. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. God gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. If you believe that, there is no gray area. And that's where Talarico gets it wrong. Being "nice" is not the same thing as being faithful. I know devout Christians who aren't always nice. That's a personality issue. Truth is a belief issue. Christianity does not require us to hate people who disagree with us. It requires us to love them. But love does not require surrendering the truth. There are eternal truths that do not change with politics, polls culture, or convenience. We don't get to rewrite Scripture because the world finds it uncomfortable. Respect everyone. Love your neighbor. Defend their right to disagree. But never confuse tolerance with surrender. We are allowed to believe. We are allowed to say it. And we are allowed to stand unapologetically on the Word of God. Some truths are not negotiable.
