I wanted to write this to reflect how I’ve been feeling lately, and to hold space for my emotions with Madi’s age. Disclaimer: Madi is alive and well, she’s currently snoring next to me. But if you’ve ever had an older dog, you get it. One day they’re racing down the hallway, and the next, you’re carrying them down the stairs. It’s a strange kind of grief missing them while they’re still here.
