11 years ago, we brought Oliver home to The Gentle Barn. He was born at a dairy farm, where he was ripped away from his mother and put in a box where he could not move. Oliver was soon adopted to be part of a 4H project. He was raised with so much love by a young girl, and then at just 12 weeks old, Oliver was brought to a county fair to be shown and then sent to slaughter. The young girl who raised Oliver fell in love with him and saved his life by asking for him to be brought to our sanctuary. The power of love that moved through that young girl's heart to stick up for what is right and save this young cow's life still lives through Oliver 11 years later. Oliver has nothing but affection to share with everyone he meets. What a privilege it has been to watch him grow, care for him, and witness the impact that one person's compassion can have.
