In the winter of 1983, Elizabeth admitted herself to the Betty Ford Center, where she would spend seven weeks receiving life-saving care and rehabilitation for addiction and alcoholism. She would return for a second time in 1988. This National Recovery Month, we look back on this moment of her life to remember the humility, grace, and resolve Elizabeth demonstrated throughout her journey to overcome addiction.
