Please go see your gynecologist on a regular basis, be an advocate for yourself (speak up and demand action if you think something isn’t right), do a well-woman exam at least once a year, lastly have a CA 125 test and a vaginal ultra sound done regularly. Stats: 5 year survival rate is 50.8%, ovarian cancer is often detected in the advanced stages, 10.3 per 100,000 women are diagnosed per year, the death rate is 6.3 per 100,000 women per year, there are 3 types of ovarian cancer 1) Epithelial Ovarian Carcinomas (Haley had this type) 2) Germ Cell Tumors 3) Stromal Cell Tumors Survival Rate by Stage: Stage 1 92%, Stage 2&3 40-72%, Stage 4 31% Symptoms: abdominal bloating or swelling, feeling full relatively quickly when eating, weight loss, fatigue, back pain, pelvic area discomfort, changes in bowel habits, the frequent need to urinate, pain during intercourse. #ovariancancer #cancer #grief
