In a couple weeks' time, it will be five years since the Taliban seized power for a second time in Afghanistan. Since then, women's rights have grown progressively worse. Afghanistan is the only country in the world where girls are systematically denied secondary and higher education as a matter of state policy. An entire generation of girls is paying the price. I’ve spent almost two decades reporting from Afghanistan and meeting extraordinary women and girls whose determination continues to inspire me. They are not asking for special treatment.
