The most successful entrepreneurs have one thing in common. A daily P&L calculator running in their head. They know their rent, their electricity, their cost of goods, their margins. Those numbers are in uptime, in front of mind all day every day. When I was turning over a couple hundred million I was still running a morning standup to go through the daily P&L. This was pre-AI. Now there is no excuse not to have it. That discipline of knowing your numbers is critical. You have to inject it into your team. What you celebrate is what you drive. Do not let your team cheer a big sale that was negative contribution margin. Anyone can give shit away. Focus on the inputs that create contribution margin. Too many people look at top line revenue or money in the bank. That is not your money. It is the company's money. We have all hit those Div 7A loans and learned that lesson the hard way. If you haven't, it is coming. The most successful entrepreneurs are constantly balancing that P&L in their head.
