I bailed on a summiting Mount Olympus.. But it ended up teaching me a very valuable lesson and that is: It is OKAY to turn around, for any reason. Whether it was too scary, I am too tired, or I simply didn't feel like going any further. There is no wrong reason to turn around! For this case, I was tired sore from our previous hike, and I was underprepared mentally for what the final summit would entail. If there was at least some chains or via ferrata - I think the outcome would have been different - but because I didn't have much experience on terrain like Mytikas, I had to make the smart decision in the moment to sit back and come back when I feel more comfortable.
