i hope we’ve done them proud - truly we would be nowhere without them. my parents immigrated into this country with a dream for their future children and worked tirelessly to make sure me and my sister had the best upbringing they could give us. my mum was always the second teacher making sure we were always learning and well mannered whilst also making sure we were well fed (mothers chicken curry is superior). she always nurtured us and gave us comfort when we needed and never gave up on us (honestly kudos cos if i had me as a child i wouldve surrendered early). my dad drove us to every single extra curricular to make sure we had the most fun and different experiences that would build us into better individuals and help us in the future (piano, singing, clarinet, violin, drama, ballet, trampolining, tamil school (i quit that so early oops), netball, swimming, badminton, cricket…) even if he just wanted to sit LMAO. PLUS his love language (like mine) was gift giving so if mummy wasnt giving me what i wanted, father would take me, and i appreciate u for that father, i will forever be ur princess 👑 when i went to uni, i was even an worse child to my parents LOL. i had outburst after outburst and i genuinely yelled so much at them both (which usually doesnt fly in an asian household but i think ours has a glitch)? i didnt think i could get through uni at all, i cried and cried (as we all know) and they both still believed in me and held my hand through everything. no matter what, my parents still go out of their way just to make sure we’re happy, even at our big ages of 23 and 26. i mean how damn lucky am i to be blessed with parents like that. and my sister. ah my sister. she truly loved me more than i loved myself and still does. i dont quite understand why she has stuck with me despite me being so mean to her for so long, maybe its because i do her makeup well or im a great unpaid therapist, but i am a very lucky sister for sure. although shes painfully good at everything and has set unreasonably high standards for me, she has never once made me feel inferior as we’ve grown up together and i will always appreciate my sister for that. so thank u thivsy, i fear i do love having u by my side (sometimes). at the end of this chapter mrs siva the teacher and mr sivakanthan the fibre optic engineer (i already forgot ur title im so sorry father), now are the proud (?) parents of two dr sivakanthans. thank u to amma and appa, i love u - u are both my shaylas, my idols and my inspos. and to thivsy, when ur not yapping down my ear, i do love u too x the way this isnt even my final grad post LOL sigh im just a grateful woman with a cold exterior #fyp #graduation #dentist #family #wholesome
