Kinda chic to contribute to the conservation of a critically engaged species 🧡 Bongo Barnaby was born last fall and needed a little extra attention from wildlife health and care specialists at the Safari Park. Our nutritionists at the Safari Park’s Harter Veterinary Medical Center proactively develop custom milk formulas for most species in our care before they’re even born. Working together, the teams bottle-fed Barnaby and provided the specialized care he needed to grow strong. Once he was ready, Barnaby was reintroduced to the herd alongside a new friend, Fig, who helped him settle into herd life. Now, Barnaby is thriving alongside his bongo buddies. As a member of a critically endangered species, with fewer than 100 eastern bongos remaining in their native habitats in central Kenya, Barnaby’s journey is especially meaningful. Guests may spot Barnaby as they travel aboard the Africa Tram at the Park. #sdzsafaripark #harter25 #savingspecies #bongo
