It’s #AnimalRightsAwarenessWeek and we couldn’t think of sharing a more heartwarming pup-date than that of Blades. On May 2, Pilots To The Rescue embarked on a monumental rescue mission to assist @Big Dog Ranch Rescue with the urgent relocation of 16 beagles who were in captivity at Ridglan Farms research facility. ✈️ One of these precious beagles on our #freedomflight was 11-month-old Blades. As happy as Blades was to breathe fresh air for the first time, he was wary–and rightfully so. After all he’d been through, earning his trust would take time. But a few days after touchdown at our home base airport in New Jersey, something magical happened. Blades received the compassionate care he needed at @Lucky Dog Refuge to feel ready enough to find his new home. It was then that he caught the attention of the McCue family in Waltham, MA. Their connection was instantaneous. "He chose us," shares his adopters Emily and John. "He's part of the family now... and fits right in." The family named Blades after the mascot of their beloved Boston Bruins. "We knew to be patient with him and that he could get startled easily or nervous. [The kids] know that they saved him from 'the science', as our middle one says." Needless to say, Blades is adored. And, because of YOUR support, a young dog who previously knew nothing but confinement is now living in a house full of love... complete with three human brothers to grow up with!
