7:48 PM on December 19 we finally got the final vocal and guitar take for The Saints I Pray To!!! one singular take for both, performed live in the little recording booth, no auto tune, no metronome, just the song that i love so much (and the talented @sofia miller on my norman guitar, thank you for playing 3 notes with such gusto for several hours). i was ready to record 100 more takes because it wasn’t *perfect* in my eyes (or ears, i guess), but sofia and shiloh assured me not to get too stuck on the imperfections — the fun could finally begin now…getting to PLAY with the song!!!!! to try out different instrument parts and harmonies! i had completely lost sight of how deeply exciting it is to be able hear a song grow and fill out through contributions!!!! it felt like a breath of fresh after after being stuck in a dark basement for months. it was so fun exploring different options and sounds. don’t worry to all the tiktok purists — the backbone of the track is still me and a guitar. but i will warn you now, there are harmonies and some light instrument parts to help build the choruses. you’ll love it. and if you don’t, that’s okay, i love it. and i loved every minute of my first experience recording a song (yes, even the hospital visit) and even though it was a wild ride, i am grateful for every second of it!!!! #singersongwriter #originalmusic #workinprogress
