In what may have been the most awkward workplace communication failure of the year, I noticed Pete had a mysterious smear of lube on his cheek and, being the helpful professional that I am, tried to point it out. Unfortunately, somewhere between my frantic gesturing and vague face pointing, he interpreted my concern as a request for some much needed affection. Before I could clarify that I was trying to save him from walking around looking like he'd lost a fight with a tube of lubricant, he was leaning in and I was questioning every life choice that led us to that moment.
