I honestly thought I was the only person in the world whose anxiety felt this intense. And actually I felt like it was more than anxiety. I felt so weird and my panic attacks felt so different than what I thought they should, that I truly thought I was losing my mind. Even when therapists gave me advice, I kept thinking, “that might work for normal people with normal anxiety but I’m different.” For years, I thought the anxiety experiences I went through were so strange and specific that nobody else could understand and I was so afraid that I really was losing my mind and I didn’t even have words to explain what I was experiencing. Feeling unreal. Feeling disconnected from reality. Being terrified I was losing my mind. Avoiding driving because of all of that. I experienced these things for years, and it was terrifying it was to not understand what was happening (and to have all the traditional advice not work). When I started sharing my story, I was shocked by how many people said: “I thought I was the only one.” That’s why I share these things. Because something that feels so personal and frightening can actually be a very common experience of anxiety. And most importantly it is possible to heal completely, and in a much simpler way than you ever thought possible. I went from struggling with severe anxiety and panic for 7 years to feeling completely free. If you’re experiencing this right now, I hope you know you can feel like yourself again. Even better than you’ve ever felt before. Today I am calmer, more trusting, more connected, more peaceful and more present than ever! #derealization #derealisation #anxietyrelief
