This is a good example of the difference between play drive and prey drive. A dog with serious prey drive would be fixated on getting the prey and would never happily walk away from prey that hadn't been captured. It's also a good example of why it's so importsnt to fulfill the leader/parent-figure position in the relationship and practice recall.
