Abhijeet Dipke, a 30-year-old from India, had just finished his master's and was looking for work in the United States. But back home, his generation was growing increasingly frustrated: The government had scrapped the results of a national medical entrance exam taken by millions of students, citing an alleged question-paper leak. More than 20 aspiring students reportedly died by suicide amid the fallout from the controversy. Then India’s chief justice, Surya Kant, called certain unemployed young Indians “cockroaches.” In response, Dipke took to X and posted: “What if all cockroaches come together?” The post went viral — and turned Dipke into the leader of a Gen Z political movement. He started the Cockroach Janta Party, which successfully called for the resignation of India’s education minister.
