UC Davis just tested 54 avocado oil products. 89% failed. The oil extracted from most chips, mayo and dressings labeled "100% avocado oil" wasn't pure avocado oil at all. It was mixed with cheaper seed oils like soybean, canola, and sunflower. (UC Davis, Applied Food Research, 2026) You're paying a premium for something that doesn't exist on the shelf. Only 2 products passed both rounds of testing. The issue isn't always the brands. The adulteration likely starts upstream with oil suppliers, before the product even gets manufactured…but that doesn't change what's actually in your cart. If you're buying avocado oil snacks specifically to avoid seed oils, you're probably getting the exact thing you paid to avoid.
