About 15 years ago, I was booked for this job in Breda, the Netherlands. I flew Economy to Düsseldorf, took a train to the German border, then another train to Breda. Fortunately, I could speak German and Afrikaans, which is like Dutch, as in the countryside, many people couldn’t speak English and I had to buy train tickets, order food and take a cab. When we got to downtown Breda, there was a marathon so the streets were closed. I walked six blocks with my luggage to a very economical, small hotel where they couldn’t speak English but we could still communicate. Another new experience, it was the first time a hair stylist glued hair extensions onto my scalp. Afterwords it was really painful taking them out. Oh well, the end result was lovely.
