All aboard for Oscar’s wish! 🚂 Eight-year-old Oscar was born with congenital microcephaly, a rare condition that affects how his brain grows. It means he has a severe development delay and uses a wheelchair to get around. Mum shared: “He’s non-verbal but is very alert and interested in his surroundings. He’s generally very happy and smiles and claps his hands when he’s feeling good.” When Oscar was referred to us for a wish, his family wanted to choose an activity where he would feel fully included and have loads of fun. Theme parks had been difficult for the family as they often had a lot of walking and limited accessibility. That’s why they wished ‘to go to Drayton Manor’, a place where accessibility is at the heart of everything they do, so Oscar could join in without any barriers. 🎢 When Oscar’s big day arrived, the magic begun the moment they opened the door to their fully accessible Thomas the Tank Engine-themed room. From there, the adventure only grew, as the family set off to explore the park, and Oscar got to experience the excitement of his first ever ride! Reflecting on the special day, mum shared: “Oscar loved the rides, particularly the Thomas rides, as he has never been on rides before. His happiness melted my heart. “Thank you for granting this wish for Oscar and us to enjoy with him. It was so magical - the time went so quickly as we were having an incredible time.
