“Life can change quickly. These photos were taken last summer, but looking at them now, they already feel like souvenirs. Not long after I took them, after fifteen years together, my wife and I chose different paths, even though our lives are still connected in some ways. Until I was thirty, I often wondered what I really wanted to do with my life. I had been a teacher, a cook, worked on boats, and tried a bit of everything. I was tired of modern life. I wanted to work with my hands and feel connected to something real. I was passionate about permaculture and agroecology, so I started a small farm in Provence. She helped me build much of it. For the first few years, my whole life revolved around that land. We lived in a yurt between my two fields, with friends all around us. But it wasn't considered legal housing, and we eventually had to leave. Losing that place was hard. Now I still have my fields, I'm a farmer who lives in a flat in the village, and when I open the window, all I see is the street. So I keep going and try to stay positive. One day, I would like to own a place of my own in the countryside, with animals again and enough space to welcome people and share with them. I'd like to work a little less during the summer, have more time to play the guitar, and build new relationships.
