We’ve spent months restoring a 400-year-old Grade II listed house. This weekend, we finally remembered what it was for. After months of dust, disasters, discoveries and an apparently endless list of things still to restore, something changed. The rooms were full. The lawn was full. Friends, family, children, music, food, slightly too much wine… And for a few hours, nobody was talking about the renovation. Nobody cared what still needed fixing. We were just living in it. Because old houses shouldn’t become museums. They’re meant to be lived in, loved, slightly battered and filled with new memories. And standing there watching our first proper summer lawn party unfold, Lawn House finally stopped feeling like a restoration project. It felt like home #renovation #home #homeimprovement #oldhouse #newlife
