Sometimes we break trust without meaning to. Here’s something I learned on Zoom calls. It was ridiculous as it looks. We all know they’re wearing sunglasses inside is only saying that we are hiding something. In contrast to where we were at outside things are just fine. The reason hiding her eyes breaks because her eyes give away the most of all our facial and body language features. Eyes of the tools of trust. So now some of us wear glasses and unintentionally have a reflection on the screen which ends up hiding our eyes in essence achieving the same thing like sunglasses would. The solution is simple. Refrain from wearing your sunglasses for the first seven seconds of an interaction even if you can’t see. You’re building a first impression. Then you can politely ask “hey, do you mind if I wear these so I can see” and I promise you they’ll always be just fine with it.
