You don't owe everyone an explanation. Here's what to do instead: 1. Identify who actually deserves your energy. Not everyone who asks questions deserves your answers. Ask yourself: does this person want to understand me — or win against me? If it's the latter, close the tab. 2. Replace "let me explain" with "I hear we see this differently." You don't have to defend your choices. This one phrase ends the loop before it starts. 3. Stop over-explaining as a trauma response. Many of us learned that if we just said it right, people would finally get it. They won't. That's about them — not your clarity. 4. Notice the physical signal. When your chest tightens before you speak, that's your body saying this person isn't safe for this conversation. Listen to it. 5. Practice the one-sentence boundary. "This isn't something I'm going to keep discussing." Full stop. No apology. No footnote. 6. Choose presence over proof. You don't need to convince someone of your worth to have it. The people who get you — get you. Everyone else is not your assignment. Save this for the moment you feel yourself shrinking to make someone else comfortable. Which one hits closest to home right now? Comment the number. I read every one. ❤️ Self Love · 🔑
