🇰🇷 Miyeok Guk (Korean Seaweed Soup) / Birthday Soup (미역국) | Soups So Good It Can Cure Any Sickness Ep. 32 One of my favorite Korean soups of all time! This soup is commonly served during birthdays or taken by nursing moms after giving birth because it is believed to help with the process of recovery :) Super simple to make with few ingredients needed but the same satisfaction when eating a really good soup! Huge Shoutout to Maangchi who helped inspire my version of this recipe! Pretty much the same thing but i tweaked some ingredients for a deeper and beefier tasting soup. You can opt for water instead of beef stock if you want a lighter soup. *Some measurements are estimates so season and adjust to your liking :) INGREDIENTS: Meat: - 1/2 - 1 kg of beef brisket, cubed Seaweed: - 1 pack of Korean dried seaweed (Miyeok) - Cold water as needed Miyeok Guk: - 3 tbsp of sesame oil - Beef Stock/Bone broth or water as needed - 2 tbsp of beef Dasida powder (or to taste) - 2 tbsp of Korean fish sauce - 1 tbsp of Korean soy sauce - Salt and pepper to taste - 10-15 garlic cloves, minced INSTRUCTIONS: - Sauté the beef in sesame oil until nicely browned. - Rehydrate the Korean dried seaweed, then drain and roughly chop.
