Lashon Hara (לשון הרע) means “evil speech” in Hebrew. It’s the act of speaking negatively about another person, even when what you’re saying may be true. Judaism teaches us that words carry tremendous power. They can heal, inspire and bring people together, or they can damage reputations, relationships and lives. Before you speak about someone, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it coming from a good place? Because the words you speak don’t only affect the person you’re talking about.
