Does your cat plant themselves in a doorway and give you the stare-down when you try to walk past, or chase your other cats away when they get near their favorite toy? That's not random. That's status-related aggression, and it tells you something important about what your cat is feeling inside. I call these cats Napoleons. They don't feel like anything in the home truly belongs to them, so they guard what they can, fiercely. A doorway, a chair, a food bowl, even your scent in the bedroom can become a contested zone. The approach isn't to out-muscle that impulse. You increase the peace by increasing what's available: ✅ More cat trees ✅ More resting spots ✅ Your worn t-shirt placed on a perch so your scent is in multiple places ✅ Spread the food stations out so no single spot becomes hyper-important to defend When a cat feels like there's enough to go around, they don't need to guard the gate.
