Building a desert style naturalist terrarium using @Zoo Med Laboratories, Inc. Excavator Clay! I love this material for desert species for a few reasons… one being that it’s really fun to work with! Of course, it’s also a great material that really works. This enclosure is for a pair of Saurodactylus elmoudenii I have been raising up. It is a small species of gecko from arid areas of Morocco, so this enclosure seemed fitting and I’m hoping to begin breeding them. Though this enclosure isn’t “bioactive” and will require some spot cleaning, a large naturalistic enclosure like this makes keeping reptiles so much more fun. Especially when they’re species you can’t often handle, a naturalistic enclosure elevates the keeper and animal experience alike! Let me know what you thought about my use of excavator clay, and if you’ve ever used it before. Thank you for watching!
