Why do ladybugs look so MEAN when they hatch?! If you’ve never seen what a ladybug looks like before they become a ladybug, it’s this little bug! And over the past few weeks, I’ve been watching them transform. It’s the coolest cycle ever! They eat aphids - so they’re actually a gardeners good friend. And as soon as they shed their skin 4 different times, emerging as a bigger version of themselves each time, they turn into an orange pupa. Just 3 days later, they move their bodies back and forth, until they finally morph into their final version of themselves, an adult ladybug! You can tell if they are a ladybug or a lady beetle depending on the number of spots they have on their bodies. The entire metamorphosis is the coolest thing ever, but now I’m just waiting on the last 2 to hatch, and then I’m releasing them into the garden!
