Anything that allows you to keep your routine and busy schedule but still get those miles in. Today I jumped on another run home from work for that very reason. The bonus is the views of the Hudson River and all the parks. But it was also less of an excuse to skip it later. Also, whether you trained for a half or full marathon, consider the 80/20 training method where you run 80% of your weekly miles at a low heart rate threshold and only 20% in the upper ranges. This is the brainchild of exercise physiologist Stephen Seiler and Matt Fitzgerald, a running author. They discovered this was already an optimized method of training across multiple sports disciplines and changed how it applied to running.
