
Con el tiempo, los niños comienzan a interiorizar nuestras palabras como base de su autoestima. Si sólo reciben atención y aprecio cuando cumplen con ciertas expectativas su autoestima y su capacidad de relacionarse con los demás pueden verse comprometidas. Si los padres aprueban, quieren y aceptan al niño por ser quien naturalmente es en lugar de por quien quieren que sea o como se comporte, sentirán esa aceptación incondicional.
