THE JURY IS NOW DELIBERATING IN THE LINDSAY CLANCY TRIAL. Calling Lindsay Clancy’s children “broken toys” she was “done playing with” wasn’t evidence. It was theater. And reducing three children to a metaphor in an attempt to make a point was absolutely revolting. The question in this case isn’t whether Lindsay could plan, complete tasks, or appear “normal.” People experiencing psychosis can do all of those things while being profoundly detached from their own mental and moral reality. So where is the evidence that she consciously constructed this plan while sane? Today felt less like proving that and more like substituting organization for sanity, ambiguous facts for calculation, and emotion for evidence. These children were not props. They were not “broken toys.”
