How much does it actually cost to live in a truck camper!? This was our *best month yet* and I’m still trying to wrap my head around *why* bc we spent half of the month in an AirBNB & did some shopping because let’s be real, I’m sick of wearing the same 3 pairs of pants. Before you criticize the amount of money we spent or compare it to YOUR budget, remember that this is for TWO PEOPLE. To come in at under $3k per person plus a dog is really not bad at all, considering the amount of traveling we did AND the luxuries of AirBNBs and shopping. The biggest savings: HEALTH INSURANCE! Is it responsible to raw dog life without insurance? Not exactly. BUT, our insurance only covered us for the west coast, so once we left Washington, it didn’t make sense to keep throwing money away. We’ll get insurance again once we’re settled. I also skipped my 2 therapy sessions this month. Where we spent MORE vs LAST MONTH: 1. GAS: Our gas bill was HIGH this month because Montana is huge and we did so much driving. Our friends & fam chipped in which kept our portion of the gas bill on par with our average. 2. SHOPPING: Again, I needed a new pair of pants. We usually only spend money on stickers and magnets at National Park stores, but we both needed a wardrobe refresh. 3. AIRBNB: We travel with our friends every summer, plus my family came to visit. We can’t fit everyone in a camper, of course, so we got to spend half the month in an AirBNB. Where we spent LESS: 1. GROCERIES: Buying in bulk from Costco, focusing on simpler meals for a group, and friends & family pitching in for groceries = about $300 less spent compared to last month. 2. CAMPGROUNDS: We only bought one night at a nice RV park to be able to plug in and crank our AC. Otherwise, we stayed on public land & AirBNBs! 3. ACTIVITIES: Last month we bought pricey concert tickets. This month we floated on a river a few times. We only have 1 month left of living this lifestyle, and then we settle down. This journey has been an emotional roller coaster. Some days we love it, some days we can’t stand the stress that comes with it. We’ll talk more about this soon. #truckcamper #monthlyexpenses #budget #travel #nomad
